Using my background as an educator, I create interactive lessons for our user base. These lessons are intended to improve professional growth within their role or provide them with the knowledge they need in order to be promoted. The lessons I design focus on all learning modalities to engage the learner. Moreover, I assist with our web design process, while meeting with our programmers to ensure deadlines will be met.
  • Oak Grove School District
    Educator
    Oak Grove School District 2017 - 2021
    San Jose, California, United States
I moved to California due to my husband's job. I taught 5th grade self-contained at Glider Elementary and Taylor Elementary. I won the STAR Teacher Award in 2018 for a series of lessons teaching students about our judicial system, using the Grinch. Students had to use various resources to gather information to determine if the Grinch was innocent or guilty; after completing the series of lessons, students held their own trial. From March of 2019 to May 2021, I taught students all subjects remotely through synchronous and asynchronous learning modules. This was a difficult time for all, but as their teacher, I was understanding of personal circumstances and made accommodations as needed; however, under the circumstances, we were in students were productive and successful. During this time frame, I was also mentoring three student teachers, and preparing them to go into the classroom the following school year. As their mentor, we focused on lesson planning, classroom management, and discuss the well-being of students.
  • Houston Independent School District
    Elementary Educator
    Houston Independent School District 2014 - 2017
    Houston, Texas, United States
In 2014, I made the decision that I wanted to go back into the classroom and put the skills I preached to other teachers as an Instructional Coach into play. I decided I wanted to go back into the classroom as a 5th self-contained teacher at Briargrove Elementary. Briargrove Elementary was a part of the International Baccurlarate Program. In addition, to teaching all core subjects, I was responsible for my students to understand the world around them through IB thematic units. At the end of a child's 5th grade school year, they were to research an issue within the world, and how they could solve or prompt awareness of the issue; an example of this could be Animal Abuse or Homelessness.

*2004-2006 Queens Intermediate: 8th grade Math Teacher and 6/7 grade Science Teacher*2006-2014 Morris Middle School I taught 5th-grade science and math, where I had a 95% success rate in math and 92% success in science. Due to my great success with my science scores, I transitioned to a science lab teacher for the next three years. As a science lab teacher, I did science experiments with all 5th-grade classes in the school which resulted in scores going from 69% to 85% schoolwide. In 2010, I became one of two Peer Facilitators (Instructional Coaches) for the school. In this position, I assisted teachers with backwards map planning, lesson planning, creating assessments, co-teach, observing classrooms, classroom management coaching, and providing teachers with positive feedback.
