About Heather Day
Growing up on the British coast, I learnt a lot about the damage humans can have on the world, through pollution, waste and more. From that experience, I have thrived into looking at how this can be changed to better our planet.I love to look at future ways in which we can transition our world to a net-zero future. One key area of this is the energy sector, as this is something that everyone uses and cannot be ignored when changing to a net-zero world. Hence why I have entered the energy industry through the Gas Transmission Graduate scheme at National Gas. As you might have guessed, my interests are focused around net-zero and renewable energy, and how the world can transition away from fossil fuel use. My current work within the Environment and Sustainability team at National Gas, as part of my graduate scheme, links strongly to this interest. I am also considering future teams within National Grid which would align with my interest but also would benefit from my sustainability knowledge and experience. My current personal and professional experience has taught a lot about myself, including:I continuously learn to expand my knowledge and expertise's to benefit my work- I love to learn, so I always like to take on any extra training and opportunities available to me- I like to get multiple perspectives on topics to better my understandingI can confidently discuss sustainability and my work with others- I love to answer questions and help people understand different sustainability goals and ambitions - I like to motivate people with sustainability - Been a Sustainability Ambassador at university and corporate levels
