I am truly politically independent. It is my passion for where I live, the people and good design that motivates me to be in local government. I have no affiliation with political parties or groups at any level of government. Everyone in the community has an equal opportunity voice to me and I am open to hearing all sides to make an informed decision. I am a team player, willing to work effectively with the other eight Councillors to get things done in the municipality. Earning my degree in architecture, which also included a wide range of studies in sustainable design, place-making, urban planning and landscape architecture, I have pursued residential design. Many of my projects are in the City of Port Phillip. Through my own design practice I have not only learnt the ropes of running a business but am also well versed in statutory planning, client relations, and delivering projects. As a Councillor my planning and design skills are essential to both understanding planning approvals as well as vision for our capital works projects like St Kilda Marina, Station Pier and Fishermans Bend. In early 2017 I created a Facebook group as the home of information for the top end of the City of Port Phillip. It has grown to be a well-respected, highly engaged online community now known as Port Melbourne Focus (formerly Port Melbourne Families), which also includes the immediately surrounding suburbs. Over the 3.5+ years I have demonstrated my dedication, integrity, care and accountability. Often needing to make decisions and be objective, I have lead the page based on listening to the membership. Especially during Covid we helped businesses connect with residents directly. It has been a real privilege to engage with the community daily while administrating the group. I believe in inclusion and seeking out a wide range of perspectives, not just the loudest few. There are several areas that are underrepresented in the ward, yet those residents and businesses pay the same rates and deserve equal input and value. I’d like to assure I am interested in the entire ward. I may live in Port Melbourne but I work and regularly shop in South Melbourne and want to be a part of delivering the potential of Fishermans Bend. I am a true representative of the Gateway ward ready to serve the people.
