Worked on the purification of polyclonal antibodies and phage and technically transferred processes into GMP manufacture. Techniques utilised in this work included• serum precipitation • affinity chromatography, including preparation and packing of columns• nanofiltration for viral clearance • tangential flow filtration and hollow fibre filtration for diafiltration and concentration • size- exclusion, ion exchange and affinity chromatography using ÄKTA explorer, purifier and pilot systems, and HPLC using Dionex LC systems• SDS-PAGE, Bradford assay and UV spectroscopy. • Prepared required documentation to a high standard including batch records, protocols and reports, standard operating procedures, change controls and deviations

Cloned and expressed recombinant proteins in E. coli including batch fermentation and their subsequent chromatographic purification. In addition examined the suitability of recombinant bacterial collagen as a substrate for mammalian cell culture and differentiation. Extraction and analysis of monosaccharides by high pH anion exchange chromatography (HPAEC-PAD) and proteins/ peptides by gas chromatography (GC-FID) and UV spectroscopy. Quantification of trace inorganics by inductively coupled plasma (ICP-AES).
