Working for the City of Aurora is a privilege and an honor for me. Not only do I work with members of the Aurora Police and Fire departments who serve our City, but I also have a backstage pass to the inner workings of what makes our City great. I am passionate about playing an active role in strengthening the community that I love, and to which my family belongs.I find purpose through my volunteerism as a Chairperson at the 7/20 Memorial Foundation and Spirit of Aurora. I am also a founding member of the Survivors of Tragedy Outreach Program (STOP) and the Colorado Resilient Life Center (CORLC).I was inspired to join the 7/20 Foundation in 2015 after experiencing the love and compassion the community displayed at one of the first fundraisers for the theater shooting memorial. For the following three years, I helped lead fundraising efforts for the permanent memorial, and in July 2018, the permanent memorial "Ascentiate" was installed.Our 7/20 board is now focused on providing support across the nation to communities that have experienced similar tragedies through their Paper Crane Peace Project. We have grown into a resource for advice and guidance in the aftermath of other mass tragedies. We continue to advocate for survivors' long-term needs, alongside others in the STOP coalition. My connections with first responders, victims, survivors, and communities that have experienced tragedy propel my passion for proving that there is more love in the world than hate.
