Stepped up as Acting Head of Media for the Natural England press office in February coinciding with the transfer of staff over to Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Interesting period to cover, learning a great deal about operating in a more Whitehall-focused environment balanced with the comms needs of a delivery body (NE). Quickly lead by example, implementing protocols and building relationships with the fabulous team at Defra. Joining the third cohort of the Civil Service-wide Early Talent Program has started to transform the way I think about work and approach my career. Face to face training combined with professional coaching is making a real difference to me, and I am able to share it with my colleagues too.

Natural England has a main account @naturalengland and 14 regional accounts on twitter providing updates on environment news, wildlife and nature sightings. We also retweet announcements from Defra and partner organisations. We use facebook to reach a general audience interested in the 224 national nature reserves which run events and are open free of charge to the public.
