Research TechnicianSiena College Jul 2005 - Aug 2006Under the employment of Dr. Rachel Sterne-Marr, was responsible for the supervision of undergraduate research students, laboratory maintenance, and independent research experiments. Specifically, examined the kinase activity of GRK2, a protein involved in cell signaling, through site-directed mutagenesis of amino acids in the nucleotide gate of GRK2 based on its crystal structure. GRK2 mutants were analyzed for ability to bind and phosphorylate substrates. This research led to a publication in Biochemistry in 2009.
