I receive inbound calls for the Lebanon division of Dartmouth Hitchcock, in the primary care department. I receive calls for 145 different physicians. All of these physicians have different processes on how they like to have information documented and how they prefer appointments be scheduled. With different preferences per department and per physician, I need to pay attention to detail while gathering important health information, take that information and decide the best process and then complete that process. While doing my work on the computer and deciding the best plan for the patient, I need to continue engaging with the patient to not lose contact. In one shift I can take anywhere between 20 and 80 calls. I do not shy away from being on the phone. I enjoy speaking with people and helping them in any way I can.

Checked patients in and out of their appointments. Received patient calls and helped them with requests and setting up appointments. Processed referrals, set up imaging and appointments at hospitals and other local clinics. Verified insurance and billed appointments accordingly. Processed in office purchases. Worked as a liaison between Greenhouse and other medical offices sending important patient information to provide continuity of care.

Check patients in and out of their office visit. Process incoming and outgoing referrals. Including routine and urgent priorities. Schedule urgent imaging and/or labs at the clinic or at a local hospital. Manage tasks from providers, nurses and specialty departments, which may include calling the patient, another doctors office or hospital. Faxing forms and Rx’s. Taking incoming phone calls, up to 11 lines. Triaging calls and/or messages. Develop referrals, process them through calls to other offices or to the patient.
