I combine formal academic theological education with practical application and I am passionate about equipping students to develop their academic skills and apply their theological studies in their lives and practical ministry settings as lay people or ministry candidates. In 2023 I joined the faculty of Cliff College as 'Research Fellow in New Places for New People, Evangelism & Growth' in a joint appointment between Cliff College and the Methodist Church in Britain. My role includes teaching across subject areas and overseeing research with the Methodist Church. From 2019-2023 I was a member of the academic staff team at Highland Theological College UHI where I acted as module leader for Hebrew Language and provided additional teaching and marking for a range of modules. My formal theological studies include a BA(Hons) in Theological Studies which provided a strong foundation for my subsequent studies and teaching responsibilities. My MTh in Biblical Studies focused on Hebrew Bible/Old Testament with special interest in the Psalms, which has influenced my reflections on the pastoral and practical necessity of engaging with lament and imprecation. My PhD in Practical Theology, Rural Church and Mission is based on 27 months of immersive qualitative fieldwork with two small churches in the Scottish Borders where I looked at possibilities for the future of mission and ministry in rural contexts. In addition to my education and teaching, I have experience across a broad range of pastoral care and administrative contexts, including dealing with students, adults with dementia and physical disabilities, youth and families. By maintaining strong links with health and social care, church ministry settings and community relationships, I have ensured that my academic theological reflection is grounded in the realities of daily life.I strive to incorporate all aspects of my education, employment and volunteering in my ongoing commitment to developing strong national and international networking opportunities. I am privileged to participate in organisations and associations such as the Mission Research Network, the International Association for Mission Studies European Board, the International Rural Churches Association, the British and Irish Association for Practical Theology, the Ecclesiology and Ethnography Network and the Women in Missiology Network.
