I manage the 60+ strand of Creative Learning, delivering an engaging programme of work as well as managing and programming freelancers to work with the groups. Since starting my position at the Lyceum the groups have created Radio Plays, worked with industry professionals and created main stage performances. Participation has increased meaning we now operate a 3rd acting group. I have established a playwriting group for our participants too which brought in a new audience to our programme alongside a long waiting list of people wanting to participate in the course. I develop relationships with schools in the city to engage them with our work. Developing and managing a programme of workshops, talks, events and activities around our main stage performances that can link to curriculum to support formal qualifications and skill development. Part of this is being responsible for the database of contacts for schools and being the first point of contact, as well as managing all ticket offers and events, with support from the Communications Department. I have also developed, and continue to develop, our written resources for schools. My latest project is aimed at opening up the producing side of our theatre and introducing students and audiences to what goes in to making a performance through a “behind stage door” website resource. Another strand of my schools work is to produce and manage our international programme of work. I support the inclusion of community participants in main stages shows and shows specifically designed for community participation. I am currently writing a document for the theatre about best practise when working with our community.I also facilitate our weekly youth theatre sessions working with ages 5-18 as well as directing many youth theatre performances on our main stage and outside venues as part of curtain raisers for professional performances, summer school projects and festivals.
