Leadership Strategy and EngagementIn partnership with Advancement colleagues, the Leadership Strategy and Engagement team facilitates outreach, engagement and personalized stewardship for the university’s top-tier volunteer leadership and most generous donors considering transformational gifts to support the campus’ highest priorities.

-Responsible for the development and major gift fundraising for the Department of Neurological Surgery as well as programs related to the Brain Institute, UPMC CancerCenter and UPCI.-Lead the efforts to expand the development programs for the Department of Neurological Surgery, which is the largest neurosurgical academic provider in the United States performing approximately 11,000 procedures annually. -Particular emphasis placed on the development/implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies, prospect research, identification, and the cultivation and solicitation (individual, grateful patients, faculty, staff, corporate and foundation) of philanthropic gifts for the entities by creating strategic development plans for short and long term philanthropic initiatives and goals.

-Key senior member of foundation and hospital leadership teams contributing to raising annual philanthropic support to expand and modernize facilities and programs.-Significant responsibility for the development of sustainable and profitable programs for the annual goals of Scripps Mercy Hospital- San Diego and Chula Vista, Oncology Care line, Scripps Mercy Cancer Center, and Surgical Programs. -Lead Director of the “Campaign for Cancer Care” at Scripps Mercy Cancer Center, $35 Million Capital Campaign to provide innovative cancer care for South San Diego.-Managed a portfolio of 200+ major gift prospects and assisted in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts ($100K-$10 million+) from individuals, foundations, and corporations for priority projects around cancer, operations, campaigns, annual giving, and events.-Developed high-level strategic multi-year plans to build donor pipeline, sustainable relationships and increase multi-year philanthropic revenue commitments.-Prepared and reviewed all proposals, stewardship reports and grants for Scripps Cancer Center and Scripps Mercy Hospital Foundation.-Managed Foundation Board of Directors (35 members): Responsible for running 6 annual meetings, board recruitment, chair recruitment and management. -Personally secured over $10 Million in philanthropic support in fiscal year (FY) 12-14 for oncology and surgical programs and continually implemented strategies to build pipeline.-Collaborated with hospital finance and leadership by managing over 50+ restricted funds for appropriate use and oversaw multiple budgets for hospital, foundation and cancer care line. -Leadership role in management and mentoring of Mercy fundraising team while monitoring and enhancing metrics to achieve annual goals and performance standards.
