Research assistant and translator for a research project at the University of Sydney, headed by Prof. Jennifer Milam and funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) entitled “Visual Cosmopolitanism, National Identity and Imperialist Ambitions in Garden Spaces”. I carried out primary research using archival materials in German. I was responsible for tracking down materials, translating texts, locating images, and communicating with curators and librarians in German museums and archives. I also summarized research materials and assisted Prof. Milam with the proofreading of her manuscripts in German and English. Over the course of this project I translated 18th century primary source materials into modern English, often using texts written in antiquated scripts such as Fraktur, Kurrent or Sütterlin.
