She has recieved extensive training in crisis communication and Incident Command Systems through FEMA and local emergency response training. She served as Director of Outreach for 8 years for Education Services Foundation (Get2College), a non-profit college access company, where she conducted 400+ workshops a year in Mississippi high schools. In 2011, Heather served Harrison School District Two in Colorado Springs, Colorado as the Outreach & Recruitment Specialist. In April 2014, Heather began serving the City of Colorado Springs as the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Colorado Springs Airport. After moving back to Mississippi, Heather began work with the Oxford School District, a large K-12 district serving 4000+ students as the Director of Communications. Heather serves as the President for the Mississippi School PR Association where she was named "Communicator of the Year" and won a Gold Medallion top award for her work on the OSD Portrait of a Graduate in 2019. She served on the Board of Directors for the United Way. Heather is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Pikes Peak and a 2010 graduate of Leadership Jackson. In 2024, Heather joined the One Church Team of Pinelake Church as the Director of Campus Strategy. She lives in Oxford, Mississippi with her husband Daniel, who is the VP of Oncology at North Mississippi Health System. They spend much of their swimming and skiing with their daughter, Maggie.
