Hello, I'm Heather MK!An eternally creative soul, I strive to love the work I create and believe in what I put into the world. It is my firm belief that by having the courage to follow your heart and intuition, we can become visual storytellers – authentically capturing the world with the work we create. I constantly find myself inspired by the Earth and those who help balance it. HMK Designs brings together my passion for nature, stories, experiences, textures and colors, in order to help cultivate my creativity, passion, and connection.I was born in Maryland and live in North Carolina. Growing up on the east coast taught me a lot about the magic of the world. Within my reach, there were mountains, oceans, valleys, bustling cities, and every season in between.Growing up, I naturally gravitated towards creativity as a way to connect with others, nature, and simply, life – as I watched how it constantly ebbs and flows. I went on to study Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design and Marketing at Stevenson University in Baltimore, MD. In my family, I was the first to do many things – the first to attend college, the first to graduate with a Bachelors (with only $13 in my pocket), the first to live in a big city, and the first to move away from my hometown (states away!).Life continued to ebb and flow, as did this wonderful career of being a designer; but throughout my journey, one thing has remained consistent: having the courage to follow my heart and intuition. Following my heart and intuition has taken me on the most unexpected, awarding journeys and thus inspiring my best work.✨One of my favorite quotes is “You’ve got to find what you love” – it’s a quote from Steve Jobs’ “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” speech (if you haven’t read it yet…what are you waiting for?). It reads: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”✨A goal I strive for every day.
