Heather McCully believes in community engagement and strives to always work alongside affected populations as meaningful participants, valued leaders, and equal partners.Heather holds a Master's in Public Health (U.Waterloo) and an Honours Bachelors of Kinesiology (McMaster). Heather has been employed over the past 19 years with The City of Hamilton Public Health Services in a variety of health promotion roles. In addition, Heather currently works as a Part-Time Professor with Conestoga College's Social Media Marketing Program and previously Mohawk College's Health, Wellness & Fitness Program. She is a sought-after trainer/facilitator and health promotion consultant with clients that include the Lung Health Foundation, Youth Advocacy Training Institute (YATI), Ontario Physical and Health Education Association (OPHEA), Students Commission of Canada and the Ministry of Education.A noted leader in health promotion and youth engagement Heather has worked collaboratively to plan, implement and evaluate several innovative prevention initiatives that have become models for other jurisdictions. Her expertise earned her the 2019 Health Promotion Canada Mid-Career Award, the McMaster Arch Award ('13) and PHE Canada's Dr. Andy Anderson Young Professional Award ('13) and the 2009 City of Hamilton Week of the Child and Youth Award. Heather found her career inspiration in her role as the Coordinator of McMaster University's Student Health Education Centre, which earned her Part-Time Manager of the Year and Outstanding Women Leader accolades, along with the Rudy Heinzl Award for outstanding contribution to the quality of student life.
