Performed laboratory procedures including microinjection of zebrafish embryos, in situ hybridizaton, bacterial cloning, DNA and RNA extraction, RNA synthesis, ENU mutagenesis, in vitro fertilization, PCR, gel electrophoresis and assisted lab members in their research experiments.Responsible for maintaining the Giraldez Lab's zebrafish facility including the aquatic housing system and all fish husbandry requirements, breeding, raising larvae of wild type and transgenic zebrafish and maintaining fish line databases to support more than 15,000 fish.Trained and supervised lab members and rotation students in the fish facility and main laboratory.Performed general laboratory duties such as ordering supplies, maintenance of equipment, application of safety procedures, and lab related administrative tasks like file management, shipments, scheduling, completion of annual protocol renewals, equipment inventories, personnel changes and organization of lab outings and events.

Carried out contract research for GTAC, such as microinjection of test chemicals in zebrafish embryos for cardiotoxicity studies and for localization assessment using fluorescent microscopy. Constructed control and test vectors for the analysis of a novel promoter in a mammalian cell line. Project Leader for the functional annotation of putative novel transcripts identified from the zebrafish genome using an in situ hybridization based approach.Established the process of in situ hybridization with zebrafish in the molecular biology lab at IGIB. Conducted project related lab experiments from sequence selection and primer design to cloning, probe synthesis, and in situ hybridization.
