I am in my fifth year as a Librarian at Portsmouth High School. My PLC team is working to improve the reading culture at PHS among both the staff and students. This will be an ongoing project for years to come! During my first year, my primary focus was relationship building with both staff and students. Without trust and connection, true collaboration and learning cannot happen. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with high school-aged students. They truly are the best! My second goal, which goes along with relationship building, was to create a warm and inviting space where students and staff want to collaborate. The library has truly become a hub of activity and learning. Lastly, I worked to improve both our digital resources as well as our print collection within my allotted budget. I have found creative ways to promote reading for pleasure, equity, and information literacy skills.
