Working in the National Archives, I scan historic documents ready to be uploaded to Ancestry online. I use a camera connected to a computer with RemoteScan software, edit and upload the images to a database. I also use Excel frequently and have to flag if a document requires treatment from a conservator.

I give historical tours of the university campus. The role requires a creative and adaptable approach as the campus is always busy with weddings, graduations and other unpredictable situations, whilst remembering the necessary historical information.

I was trained in a variety of roles and transferable skills with Tesco, including tills, cash handling, cashing up, opening and closing the store, stocking shelves, taking in delivery, stock counts and of course, giving an excellent standard of customer service.

I worked as a camp instructor, teaching groups of up to 20 children, aged 4 - 14, often on my own. I instructed the children in a variety of activities such as air rifle shooting, archery and other sports and games. I also had to fill out health and safety forms and communicate with parents at the end of the day.

Worked in a fast-paced, large bar and restaurant environment. I worked mainly on the bar by making drinks but I also took orders and food out to the tables as a waitress. Sadly, I was made redundant due to the Covid-19 pandemic and would have loved to have worked here longer.

Matalan was my first ever job at 16. I learnt how to use tills, put stock out and deliver customer service with a smile.
