I am the Library and Knowledge Lead, based at the Mental Health Library of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. I began this role after working as Librarian in the same Trust for 3 years.I successfully completed chartership with CILIP on 25th June 2015 and revalidated in 2017.My current role involves managing Library and Knowledge Services and the team of three; teaching information literacy to staff members at LYPFT, both classroom based and as one-to-one tutorials, outreach services; collection management and acquisitions; service promotion; and raising the profile of the library. My background is in nutrition, which I studied at undergraduate level and this bolstered my interest in the health sector. After gaining my undergraduate degree, I looked for a full-time position in the health sector. I looked for roles that would utilise my knowledge and skills, particularly those acquired during my studies but also from my experience in customer service from years working in the retail sector. This led me to the position of Health Improvement Resource Officer at the Public Health Resource Centre of NHS Leeds. While working at the Public Health Resource Centre I grew interested in library skills and management, and this led me to apply for a distance learning Masters Degree at Northumbria University.Upon successful completion of my MA I sought a position as a librarian which I was lucky enough to achieve. My interests include knowledge management, current awareness, collection management and the use of social media within libraries as marketing and promotional tools.I am motivated, enthusiastic and interested in libraries and their supporting role in the health sector. I am innovative, creative and flexible and work well as part of a team. I enjoy working in health libraries and being part of a larger organisation, working towards the same ultimate goals of improving health and wellbeing.
