Positively impacting the environment through collaborative engagement with industry and colleagues is the best part of my day-to-day at Dillon Consulting. I’d always wanted to work in a field that allowed me to be creative in solving problems while servicing the greater environmental good. In my fourth year of university, I remember standing on a dock, looking out at a lake I’d known since childhood and realizing – that was my future. Preserving its ecosystem health while balancing out the needs of the user community was the first step of my journey. A career in environmental consulting has provided me with an exciting, challenging and diverse profession whether I’m supporting the national environmental management team in the pursuit of their own career goals, or working one-on-one with clients to help them achieve their stewardship objectives. I’ve also been able to experience my idealized ‘typical day of work’: being in the dirt and collecting samples in the morning, scrubbing off and analyzing the findings in the office in the afternoon and enjoying the interconnection of an industry event in the evening. I feel fortunate to be able to engage the various aspects of my personality and value system in the workplace.To keep my professional life in balance I enjoy being part of an awesome triathlon training community, working on my perennial garden and spending time with friends and family.
