Modern Artifacts is handmade jewelry blending ancient textures with contemporary design. Using 14k gold, sterling silver, nu-gold, brass, bronze, shibuichi, and copper, patinas are applied with various processes and then strategically sanded and polished or gilded with 23K gold leaf. Minimalism and modern architecture inform the design aesthetic, yet this is juxtaposed by the preciousness of patinas and often a dusting of gold across hammered textures. Inspired by the weathered beauty of ancient archeological artifacts the handmade bracelets, necklaces, and earrings are bold yet sophisticated accessories to be worn alone or layered for a chic statement.

Visual Merchandising, floor layout, customer service, sales, pricing, counting out money at open and close, community outreach, planning for workshops and art events, building inspirational art objects and furniture using items in the store.

Curating, hanging and lighting shows, producing and organizing events, fundraising, working with artists, running registers, keeping track of sales and payouts to artists.

Drawing illustrations of the antique clothing in the museum’s collection with breakdowns of patterns, location of damage, and lace details. Teaching workshops on historic methods on natural dyeing, loom work, and drop spindle techniques. Other duties: research, leading tours, and office work including data entry.
