I am currently a teaching assistant for The Earth 101 under Dr. Adrian Lenardic in the Department of Earth Science. My duties include holding office hours, attending lectures, and holding review sessions before exams. My thesis research involves using the electron microbe and petrographic microscope at Johnson Space Center and laser ablation inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometer at Rice University to describe a new Martian meteorite and determine its crystallization history. I have presented this work at several national and international meetings in planetary science. Previous teaching experience includes Earth Chemistry and Materials, in which I taught the lab section, graded labs, held office hours, and attended lectures, and Trace Elements and Isotope Geochemistry, in which I attended lectures and held office hours. Both of these courses were taught by Dr. Cin-Ty Lee, my thesis advisor.
Graduate Student
I was a graduate student in the School of Earth and Space Exploration (previously the Department of Geological Sciences). My thesis research involved using a piston cylinder apparatus to perform high pressure experiments on a Martian meteorite composition with water to determine changes in crystallization temperatures and pressures and mineral phases present from a similar anhydrous composition. Results of the experiments were analyzed with an electron microprobe. I presented this work at several national meetings in planetary science. I was a teaching assistant every semester at ASU, which involved teaching labs, grading papers, attending lectures, and holding office hours and review sessions before exams for Mineralogy (under Dr. Tom Sharp, my thesis advisor), Petrology (two semesters under Dr. John Holloway), and Introductory Geology (three lab sections).

Intern
I worked with Dr. Allan Treiman and Dr. Don Musselwhite performing high-pressure experiments on a primitive Martian meteorite composition using a piston cylinder apparatus at the Johnson Space Center. The goal of the experiments was to determine crystallization pressure and temperature of the composition, and to determine if it was a primary melt of the Martian mantle. At the end of the internship I presented my findings to the scientific community in Houston, TX. I also presented a talk at the following Lunar and Planetary Science Conference. I am second author on a paper published on this work in 2006 in Meteoritics and Planetary Science.
