Entirely manages and coordinates all efforts of the Inclusive Mentorship Initiative (IMI), and is solely responsible for the exponential growth and expansion of the IMI mandate. The IMI is a linguistic mentoring program where English-Speaking students are paired with French-Speaking professionals, with the aim of increasing the students’ employability and increasing the retention of English-Speakers in the region.Areas of expertise: Project management, project coordination, partnership building, recruitment, networking, pairing mentors and mentees, managing the participants (48 people at present), event planning and hosting, article writing, media relations, political relations, consulting, and report writing.

Heather is the public relations officer and executive assistant for The Foundation for the Compulsory Study of Genocide in Schools. Heather’s educational background is in Marketing and Public Relations. Professionally, she has more than 10 years of work experience in sales, B2B marketing and internal and external communications. Her passion for equality and human rights stems from growing up in the culturally diverse city of Montreal. She first learned about genocide in grade 4 with the Diary of Anne Frank, and soon discovered she was among a minority of people with such knowledge. Heather’s commitment to eradicating genocide cemented after visiting the Khmer Rouge’s killing fields in Cambodia, a genocide that ravaged the country and whose ramifications are still being felt today.Responsibilities: Media relations, political relations, communication, interview coordination and preparation, speech writing, networking, and social media management. The Foundation for Genocide Education’s mission is to collaborate with governments and educational experts to ensure that the history of genocide (Canadian and international) and the steps leading to it are taught in high schools across Canada and the United States, to prevent such atrocities in the future.

I worked in all aspects of sales, marketing, merchandising, and customer service. I worked through the entire chain of distribution, from product development to customer follow up after the goods were received. I progressed to Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Safdie Co. Inc. Some of my duties were, but weren't limited to; coordinating the sales teams, B2B marketing, sourcing, sales quotations and meetings, client retention, department liaison (between sales, imports, graphics, finance, shipping, suppliers, and customers), trade show preparation and attendance, market research, product research and development, inventory and sales reports, showroom preparation in Montréal and NYC, walk-in clients, administrative work, and customer service.

Initially a stage position, I worked for a licensed promotional company that held promotional rights for companies such as the NHL, CLF, NBA, and YMCA, to name a few. During this time I was involved with direct marketing, quotations, order placement, client relations, tradeshow preparation and administrative work.
