Leading the cement and concrete initiative within RMI's Climate Aligned Industries program

Energy + Transportation + Land Use + Industrial Decarbonization (Cement & Concrete)Working with businesses, cities, states, and industry. Responsible for developing and implementing strategy at the program, initiative, and project levels. Focus: policy, regulation, and advocacy.

Worked across RMI's Cities and States Program and the Carbon-Free Mobility program. Worked on energy decarbonization through research, strategy, convening, facilitation, writing, and business development with a focus on clean energy and mobility. Projects included:-North Carolina Energy Regulatory Process - Project manager - convened key stakeholders to design policies that align regulatory incentives and processes with 21st century public policy goals, customer expectations, utility needs and technology innovation. This process that was recommended by Governor Roy Cooper's Clean Energy Plan, per the B1 recommendation.-Bloomberg Philanthropy's American Cities Climate Challenge - Worked with communities and utilities on collectively procuring renewable energy and driving system-level electricity decarbonization - Tracking how cities engage at the utility, regulatory, and legislative levels* Partnered with Senator Heinrich and his office on the 2019 New Mexico Energy Summit. Project managed RMI's support of convening design, facilitation, and technical presentations on solar, transportation, buildings, and rural electrification. Led the mobility workshops. * 3 year partnership with the City of Austin on mobility transformation, accelerating the adoption of shared, electric, autonomous mobility services in cities designed for people and not cars. Worked on a variety of mobility transformation projects to accelerate a future of shared, electric, autonomous mobility services in cities design for people, not cars. - Collaborated with transportation companies to drastically reduce the cost and increase the efficiency of fleets by electrifying high-mileage vehicles like taxicabs and transportation network company vehicles.- Worked with Austin Energy to enable electric vehicles to improve the electricity grid with smart charging and to potentially provide other ancillary services like frequency regulation.- Helped accelerate the coming wave of autonomous vehicles by ensuring that Austin was an attractive location for technology leaders to launch commercial pilots.

The United Nations Climate Change backed "High-Level Champion" role was created in 2015 at COP21 in Paris to help realize the ambitions of governments to lower carbon emissions and build resilience to climate change. The Champions specifically bridge the work of governments with the many voluntary and collaborative actions taken by cities, regions, businesses, investors and civil society.As a member of the Climate Change High Level Champions team, I led on city engagement strategy for COP27, that was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, and strategic planning for 2023.

Selected students of Trier University of Applied Sciences, Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, took part in "Traveling University," a program designed to tackle environmental and economic issues around the world. Our program was organized to develop an Energy and Resource Master Plan for the State of Aguascalientes, Mexico. Acting as a consultant for the municipality, state, and Secretary of Environment, we worked in partnership with local Mexican students and leaders to turn energy, water, and waste challenges into opportunities. We performed market research and site assessments, analyzed the system as a whole, and identified technical solutions that would generate viable business models.

• Developed web maps for the Land Protection Division (LPD) with ArcGIS Online. This task includes identifying locations on the LPD website where a web mapper would help graphically display information, working with programs to gather the location information, creating shape files and uploading the data to ArcGIS Online, developing the web mapper, and sending the HTML information to be added to the web.• Test the usability of the ESRI Collector Application for collecting GPS points in the field. Collaborate with LPD field staff to test application and develop protocols and a how-to-guide for use of training field staff.• Help organize new employee training for the LPD. This task includes coordination with Environmental Program Manager IIIs to set dates and times for training, reserving meeting rooms, sending Outlook invites, and other duties as assigned. Arranged 4 separate 90 minute training sessions in September.
