My background and accomplishments in the sport of figure skating were instrumental in developing commitment, self-discipline, courage and a deep understanding of what it takes to be committed to achieving your goals and dreams. Being a leader (as opposed to 'doing' leadership) requires us first to grow ourselves. We can’t help people see their gifts and their challenges when we aren’t willing to look at our own. Then and only then can we truly serve others to be their best selves. Transformation is about becoming our best selves and whether we are leading at home, in the community or in the office, success starts with a willingness to look inward. My mission is to help you unearth what's holding you back so you can move yourself forward.     The question is not, do we impact those we work live and play with. The question is….”are we leading and living in a manner that is positively or negatively impacting others?” Effective leaders hold themselves accountable for their results, their impact on others, and cleaning up when they mess up. Effective leaders have a life-long desire to learn and grow. The day we think we have it all figured out is the day we stop growing. Growth and success require us to own our lives – the good, the bad and the ugly – to understand that our lives are a compilation of all that we have lived and experienced to this moment in time. Wherever we are at this moment, is related to a life of choices, actions, and beliefs. When we have the will to look within, we will see what is holding us back. It is through one’s journey of self-discovery that personal transformation is possible. This work requires support from many. Support may include working with coaches, counsellors, mentors, spiritual advisors, etc. Transformation is the journey of becoming your best self. Between where you are today, and where you want to be is a GAP. The GAP is where we feel discomfort. Why? Because it is outside of what we know, and what we know is comfortable, predictable, and safe. As we move through the GAP (the unknown) we take on new ways of leading and new ways of being. During this phase of change we will mess up, stumble, and fall as we try on new ways of leading. This phase is one of unpredictability and thus discomfort. Staying the course, despite the discomfort is where growth happens; it is also when many will withdraw and return to leading from, and living in, their comfort zone. To retreat is to shrink and to stay where you are, where life is safe and predictable. Transformation is on the other side of safe and comfortable.
