In this position I am responsible for the global IP Formalities groups, working as one team. IT System support and Legal contract database management complete my scope of responsibility. I am a member of the IP Management Team. All IP Formalities from filing to maintenance/renewal are processed by the teams on multiple locations. I am the relationship manager for IP Agents globally to ensure performance is uniformly managed. Additionally, I manage the invoice approval process for IP spend and work closely with Finance for reporting of the IP department budgets. Also responsible for the tools used to support the above. This involves management of external IT system providers. I maintain a keen interest in the use of tools to aid decision making. Excel, Tableau mostly and look for ways to apply these tools to continuous improvement of process and data quality in the form of Dashboards as well as project specific visualisations.

In addition to my responsibilities regarding the Information specialists group I am now responsible for the IT support within Legal & IP department. The group supports IT solutions used in all our offices. These include the Document Managment System and other centralised tools.I have recently expanded my responsibilities and now also manage the IP Administration groups. We provide matter management/mail handling and all formalities/filings for the global IP department.Never a dull moment.

I head a group of in house patent information specialists. We support the patent attorneys with all types of information gathering and analysis.Akzo Nobel is an active PDG member company.

I worked on the development of novel heavy metal free thermal stabilizers for PVC. Most of my work was for plasticized PVC and liquid stabilizers but latterly I was concerned with solid systems for both rigid and plasticised PVC. We have a few patents on these system. I carried out the lab work for their creation, performance testing and scale-up to 1tonne scale.During this time I was the industrial supervisor for two PhD studentships the company funded at Manchester Metropolitan Univ.
