Personal Bio:Ms. Heather Brendle is an accomplished program manager and executive with a passion for the design and development of air vehicles. She is currently Vice President of Endurance Systems for Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing Company, in northern Virginia focusing on innovative unmanned air vehicle (UAV) development with emphasis on endurance systems. Her successes include providing program leadership for the development of two major UAV programs from concept through flight. Ms. Brendle’s first UAV success was Excalibur, a 700-pound proof-of-concept vertical takeoff and landing tactical air combat vehicle, achieving first flight in 2009. This was followed by Orion, an 11,000-pound ultra-long endurance reconnaissance platform capable of extended multi-day flight without refueling. Ms. Brendle successfully led the Orion design and development team to first flight in 2013 and subsequently to the world record breaking 80-hour flight, as recorded by the National Aeronautic Association (NAA), in 2014. Ms. Brendle also led the development of Odysseus, an ultra-long endurance solar UAS, prior to her role as vice president. She has a diversified background with unique talents in both engineering and program management. Ms. Brendle’s list of clients includes major Department of Defense offices, commercial companies and international offices. She holds a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University and has fifteen years of experience in the aerospace industry. The air vehicle relied on a hybrid turbine-electric propulsion system for vertical takeoff/landing, hovering and transition to fixed wing flight.
