About Heather Bull
Heather Bull is a Award-winning communicator | Senior strategic advisor | Supportive team leader at FTI Consulting. Colleagues describe them as "In 2020, from the start of lockdown, Heather, while Director, Commerce at Hill + Knowlton Strategies, led an extraordinary pro bono PR campaign, which literally threw the spotlight on the healthcare heroes working at the frontline of the Coronavirus crisis. Between 26 March and 5 July, sporting and entertainment venues, national landmarks and historical buildings were turned into beacons of blue through the #LightItBlue initiative. With iconic structures including Windsor Castle, Houses of Parliament and No.10 Downing Street taking part, the campaign kickstarted an international worldwide gesture of solidarity that saw 23 countries joining in to #LightItBlue. To drive awareness of the campaign, and boost its take-up, Heather provided pro-bono advice on story positioning, timely media alert and image distribution, coordination of TV and radio interviews and media training. H+K’s international network produced support in the US, Singapore and Argentina. The campaign also benefited from H+K’s sister agencies within WPP with access to pro-bono tracking resources. At peak times Heather worked seven days a week; and on several occasions after midnight to ensure the story was covered extensively. Under Heather’s leadership the campaign not only generated nearly 3,000 media articles and 22,402 social mentions in the UK but gave a sense of pride to those people in the events and entertainment industry who were responsible for lighting the sky blue every Thursday night at 8pm. As instigators of the #LightItBlue campaign, we at the #MakeItBlue Collective were, and remain, profoundly grateful - both for the generosity of H+K Strategies, and for Heather’s enthusiasm and energy in making this happen. Sarah Webster External Communications, MAKEITBLUE CIC" and "Heather is one of the most impressive senior leaders I've worked with. Her unwavering commitment to championing her team, driving excellence, and spreading positivity are all qualities I've particularly admired. I worked with Heather at Hill & Knowlton on various marketing projects for four years; she was the team lead I trusted the most, engaging with any request and proactively devising campaigns to drive new business and recognition for her sector. Her enthusiasm for agency life and the world of communications was always clear. In addition to pioneering a new sector specialism within the agency, she also championed H&K's pro bono projects - which created genuine change for our charity partners and have been recognised by awards bodies. In 2022 she was named H&K's Ambassador of the Year - recognising her impact on the business, presence at industry events, and commitment to championing the agency. I hope to have the opportunity to work with Heather again in the future; any business or team would be lucky to have her."
