Dr. Carpenter is a highly networked nonprofit professor, researcher, consultant, and trainer passionate about nonprofit capacity building and talent development. She was selected as a 2022 Top 50 Power and Influence Nonprofit Leader by the Nonprofit Times. Dr. Carpenter Serves as Executive Director of the Institute for Nonprofit Administration and Research at LSU Shreveport. She is co-author of the following books: Nonprofit Crisis Management: Response to COVID-19 and The Talent Development Platform: Putting People First in Social Change Organizations, and co-editor of the Teaching Nonprofit Management textbook. She previously served as co-editor and chief of the Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership and as board treasurer of the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council. She earned her Ph.D. in Leadership Studies with an emphasis on Nonprofit and Philanthropic Leadership from the University of San Diego and a Master of Management in Nonprofit Administration from North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. Before pursuing her Ph.D. Dr. Carpenter ran nonprofit organizations in Illinois and California. Career Summary• Conducted over 20 nonprofit capacity-building workshops, presentations, and symposia for nonprofit organizations on talent development, leadership, and nonprofit operations.• Taught over 80 courses in nonprofit management, nonprofit leadership, nonprofit marketing, communications, human resources, nonprofit finance, and strategic planning.• Directed over 100 service-learning projects with community-based organizations.• Published eight peer-reviewed articles, six book chapters, three books, and six professional reports, and presented at 40 academic conferences on nonprofit talent development, nonprofit careers, and nonprofit education.
