I handle content creation and management across our social media platforms. My duties include researching demographics and trends, social listening with like-minded organizations and individuals, increasing community engagement, drafting mission-aligned content, and analyzing metrics.Within my first year of employment, I grew our following from 300 across platforms to over 35,000. Additionally, we were able to target a regional audience that has gone largely untapped for Mercy For Animals through targeting efforts.I am responsible for drafting ad copy, working with my team to create advertising strategy, and drafting emails for our subscriber list.

Engaging regularly with all departments, I determined communications strategy for Catskill Animal Sanctuary, and was responsible for a wide variety of administrative tasks, planning and oversight responsibilities, and content creation in support of that strategy. I was also responsible for social media planning, and email creation in MailChimp. I maintained the content and visual appeal of the Sanctuary’s main website, regularly made website changes and updates, and oversaw promotional initiatives in support of sanctuary programming and events. Additionally, I supported the Digital Communications and Media Associate in their work and professional growth by fostering and maintaining a strong sense of “team” and offering professional development support and guidance.

Collaborating with every department, I was responsible for curating and growing the social media presence for this animal-centered nonprofit and its many programs. I established and maintained the organizational voice by creating cross-platform structured content and marketing strategy. I also created extensive email and social media donation campaigns using best practices informed by user research, audience feedback, qualitative data, performance analysis, and testing. Additionally, I supplied graphic design for sanctuary signage, events, campaigns, and emails, merchandise design, and maintained our photo database.

Utilizing a social media scheduler, I created and cataloged content for all our social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. I also took and edited many of the photographs and videos! Additionally, I was in charge of moderating and responding to comments across networks. For the retail aspects of my job, I created designs for our merchandise and research new products for our on-site and online gift shop. I was also responsible for keeping the shelves stocked and the inventory up-to-date. Working with the Communications Manager, I also created email and media campaigns to sell merchandise.

In groups up to 25, I led an educational tour around the grounds focusing on the plight of farmed animals. I was responsible for ensuring the safety of my group and for encouraging visitors to adopt a vegan lifestyle. I am knowledgeable about many aspects of animal agriculture and am skilled at naming resident animals and telling their stories.

After participating in the Long Island Summer VegFest, I was asked to contribute an article to this vegan parenting magazine. Upon completion, I was asked to be a regular contributor on a variety of topics as they relate to veganism and body positivity.

In addition to managing the social media and creating content for this Hudson Valley co-working center, I was also the lead administrator. I tackled online bookings, wrote blog posts and newsletters, ran monthly points reports, and kept online correspondences orderly. I also assisted with invoicing and hiring.
