Currently learning to live with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.Career Summary : An Architect with 30 years experience at the intersection of public policy and private practice, advocating person centred approaches to design and adaptation from single building, through major infrastructure projects & programmes, to whole places. As an Architect in practice I designed community facilities (mainly sports & education), adapted homes for disabled people, advised the government on improvements to Scottish building standards and worked on community led regeneration projects. I then moved into an advisory body and worked with Audit Scotland and Scottish Government partners to lead NHSScotland to rethink how it involved public & staff in its service change and infrastructure projects. For the first time, the experience & needs of building users had a formal role in the financial decisions public bodies made. This then informed how Scottish Government’s Key Agencies could work better with local partners to support place based change to improve lives and climate resilience. I felt I was just getting started…I was Chair of a charity running adventure-based support groups for young women living with Breast Cancer, having been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive variety in my 30s. I also rode BIG motorbikes, played judo and built my own cabin in the woods.Specialties: Placemaking, design quality in public procurement, advocacy, stakeholder facilitation, qualitative briefing and growing peer to peer learning cultures.
