About Heather Sams

After graduating from VCU with a BS degree, I worked in both film/television and professional/Olympic sports doing event management, marketing, public relations, and athlete/talent coordination until 2003. After 9/11, I decided to become a Registered Nurse as a way to help those who were suffering from physical and mental ailments. I have worked in various departments in my nursing career that include film and television health and safety, community health, critical care, diabetes education, and school/public health nursing. I am familiar with working with populations from infant to adult. I own a business that provides nurse consultation for an all girls middle school and teach medication administration training for those who work in schools and day cares in the Commonwealth of Virginia.During the pandemic, I was offered an opportunity to combine my film and television background and my skills as a Registered Nurse to assist several television and film productions with getting the production crews back to work safely. Once the pandemic expired, I have continued to use my education, career and passion to advocate for a true on set health and safety team that protects the mental and physical health of the production communities where I work. I look forward to continuing to pursue a career in film and television safety and will continue to strive to make that happen.
