About Heather Elsa

I’m an award-winning technical designer and experienced UX leader dedicated to risk-taking and innovation. I’m equally at home designing beautiful typographical layouts or 100 page technical specifications. An entrepreneur at heart, I appreciate both business and art and where they intersect to produce great work. My goals include creating a fun, imaginative and diverse workplace; working with people who are smarter than I am; designing products that are useful, inventive and relevant to users; and constantly honing my skills in a changing industry. I am deeply interested in learning and working with new technologies including machine learning, AI, blockchain, VR, and IoT. I have experience with design organization, systems thinking, accessible design and prototyping. With an extensive background in beginning-to-end product creation, I have been lucky enough to design some of the most-downloaded and best-reviewed apps on the App Store. I am a scrappy, endlessly positive, fun and practical leader who leads teams to understand the problem, get visual fast, test, and optimize. Design should be fearless and not too academic. It should be fun and exhilarating and should make teams feel excited. Too much process can kill momentum, overtake progress and demoralize good designers. I’m a visual artist, a classically trained violinist, electronic musician, seamstress, gardener, cook, and a serious yet solo scrabble player who wins 89.8% of games against the bot. I’m a twin who had a set of twins so I’m an overachiever:)
