About Heather Fink

Heather has 12 years of experience as a manager, employer relations professional, advisor and teacher at private and public university career centers. In her role as the Director of Career Services, she manages employer and alumni relations as well as decides on initiatives that our office will put forth. It her my goal to infuse equity and inclusion into all career programming, events, and services. She feels fortunate to work at BU College of Communications with professors that have hands-on experience in their fields. Many professors chose to partner with our office to ensure students are prioritizing career development in addition to their studies. Another reason she enjoys working at BU is the focus on experiential learning. Student-run agencies such as PRLab and AdLab as well as student organizations like Daily Free Press, and BUTV10, PRSSA, AdClub enable students to gain hands-on experience prior to graduation.I am MBTI Certified and Safe Zone trained.     • Implement the first College of Communication alumni mentorship program of 146 participants• Implement COM's first career class by writing the syllabus, recruiting professors to teach it, and liasing with the curriculum committee for course approval• Won $4,500 for the "Deans Award for Alumni Engagement and Innovation." Award is given to two exceptional and innovative staff or faculty that contribute to the mission of the College of Communication.• Steward six alumni internship funds by generating partnerships with employers to sponsor internships and liaise with development to help craft compelling donor reports. • Chair a committee of ten faculty and staff for initiatives involving connecting alumni with students. • Manage COM Career services budget and a $1 million dollar alumni endowment• Manage all employer relations endeavors for COM Career Services• Hire, onboard and manage two professional full-time staff members • Obtained budget approval from the Dean and Provist to grow COM Career Services team from three full time staff to four time staff to decrease appointment wait time from four weeks to one week.
