Passionate about improving the life chances of children and young people through education, training and impactful youth provision. Originally a PE teacher, I founded Lifetime in 1995 - a training business that went on to become the UK’s largest apprenticeship and skills training provider. I sold the Lifetime Training Group in 2016 and since that time have been involved in a number of businesses and charities that seek to have a positive impact on people’s life opportunities. Now I’m actively developing and investing in a number of brilliant businesses all at different stages of growth. I focus my investment in Bristol based businesses either through Origin or the Bristol Private Equity Club. I also invest alongside Private Equity and take an active role in education focussed businesses. My goal with Origin Workspace is to create a collaborative space where businesses can start and grow in a supportive environment. It took me many years to build my first business because I began with zero connections - by helping young business to collaborate and network with other businesses and experienced advisors, I hope to help these business accelerate their growth. All profits from Origin are used to support entrepreneurs and charities in the Bristol area.My goal with scale up business, Bud is to create a market leader in the EdTech sector. Bud is a complete solution for the management and successful delivery of apprenticeships, including learning, funding and management. Ultimately, my ambition is to drive up the quality of skills delivery and maximise the impact that skills funding can have on individual learners and the businesses they work for.My role with private equity backed apprenticeship provider, Paragon Skills is to support the executive team in the creation of effective strategy, the delivery of goals and objectives and achieving the next phase in its growth plan. I’ve never lost sight of my passion for teaching. I want to make a difference in the lives of young people by inspiring them to truly engage in what they are passionate about. I have recently taken on the Chair role of Youth Moves that has partnered with OnSide to bring a fantastic new Youthzone to South Bristol. Established from the proceeds of the sale of Lifetime Training Group, The Frankham Family Charitable Trust supports charities with the mandate to help children and young people.

ChairpersonYouth Moves Jan 2023 - PresentYouth Moves was established in Knowle West in South Bristol to support the young people in the area. The team are passionate about high quality Youthwork that helps young people and supports positive community engagement. Partnering with OnSide - a national Youthwork charity - Youth Moves are bringing a new YouthZone to South Bristol. With Capital Fundraising secured and planning permission agreed, we are looking to break ground later this year and open in 2025. This new centre will work collaboratively with other charities across Bristol to provide youth driven services and activities to 4000+ young people. The centre will have a Sports Centre, Climbing Wall, Dance Studio, Recording Studio, Boxing Ring, Teaching Kitchens, Craft areas, and Employment Zone and lots of social space with a canteen providing hot meals. My role in Chairing Youth Moves is to ensure it continues the amazing work it is doing whilst scaling rapidly to take on a new YouthZone. Maintaining the values of the organisation is really important to the Trustees whilst building capability and capacity to deliver to many more young people. Youth Moves was chosen by the Council and OnSide to own this project but our mission is to work alongside other local youth charities to deliver the ambition and ultimately amplify the funding for charities supporting Young People across the city. This is not easy in the current economical climate with youth funding receiving significant cuts this year. Working with Quartet and The Origin Foundation (formally the Frankham Family Trust) collectively we are seeking to support the Youth Alliance (a collection of youth providers and charities in Bristol) to deliver on their ambitions. If you are a business, philanthropist or volunteer that is able to support this mission to improve opportunities for young people across the city, please do reach out and I would be delighted to talk to you more about what we are doing. -

Director, Investor And MemberBristol Private Equity Club Jan 2017 - PresentBristol, Uk, GbI’m a Member & Investor in the Bristol Private Equity Club, an organisation that matches members with businesses looking for equity in the £100k to £500k space. The Club gives businesses an organised process through which to reach investors who receive, review and discuss business plans and then share the risk and reward of investing. Each member invests in each business on a deal by deal basis, not all members will invest in each proposal, this clearly differentiates the Club from a VCT or Private Equity Fund.
