I work with individuals, homeowners, and businesses to help them compost organic waste and build healthier soil. With years of hands-on experience at Lower Blakemere Farm, which is run by my husband Phil and our son Monty on the Duchy Estate, I’m passionate about making composting easy and accessible—whether through Bokashi, wormeries, or traditional methods. At Wiggly Wigglers, we’re focused on showing how these techniques can transform gardens, reduce waste, and enrich soil right at home, cutting out the need for landfill or centralised composting schemes.When waste is sent to landfill or centralised facilities, it often involves unnecessary transportation and energy costs, and we lose valuable organic material that could instead nourish our gardens. By composting at home, we save on these environmental costs, cut out waste, and harness a valuable resource right on our doorstep. It's a win win. Bokashi is central to our work. For those new to it, Bokashi (Japanese for ferment) rapidly breaks down food scraps—including challenging items like meat and dairy—into a pre-compost that’s ready in weeks. This can then go into wormeries or traditional compost heaps, creating nutrient-rich compost for the garden. At Lower Blakemere Farm, we produce our own Bokashi Bran from local wheat bran, molasses, and EM1 (Effective Microorganisms), fermenting and drying it ourselves to ensure the best quality.We’re also building a brand ambassador programme, connecting with passionate gardeners, composters, and eco-conscious individuals who are excited to share Bokashi and other composting solutions in their communities.
