CurrentDeveloping and implementing the strategy and plans for fundraising to meet Marklund's annual, capital and endowment requirements. Marklund has an annual operating budget of $43 Million, with $4.5 Million in revenue from fundraising activities to meet the funding "gaps" created by the state of IL. Marklund is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1954 to enrich the lives of infants, children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With three locations, Marklund has both residential and day programs for all ages, as well as a Therapeutic Day School for children with complex medical needs and autism. In 2015, Marklund opened the Ann Haskins Center at the Marklund Day School, built from the ground up to serve children on the autism spectrum, and opened our 2nd school campus, the Foglia Education Center in May of 2020. Both locations serve children on the autism spectrum, as well as children with multiple medical needs, ages 3-21. The Nathan Education Center opened in June 2023, expanding Day School autism services, as well as a new CDS program called Bridge Builder for adults in Elgin.Marklund completed a successful merger with Little Angels Center for Exceptional Care in November 2016, with a combined mission to "make everyday life possible for individuals with profound disabilities". This Elgin location was renamed the Marklund Wasmond Center, after its founders.
