As the Director of Strategic Communications for the Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS), I support the nation's premier homeland security education and research institution in reaching and engaging with diverse and influential audiences. With over 20 years of experience in the field, I have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing homeland security practitioners and officials across all levels of government and sectors of society.I lead a team of professionals who design and implement strategic communications plans and campaigns that showcase the impact and success stories of CHDS students, faculty, staff, and alumni. We leverage print, broadcast, and web-based media platforms, as well as social media and events, to raise awareness and visibility of the Center's programs and products. We also collaborate closely with the Naval Postgraduate School and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security leadership on these endeavors. My skills and expertise in media relations, public relations, agency outreach, student and alumni relations, and recruitment enable me to effectively communicate the value and relevance of CHDS to a national and global audience of academics and practitioners. My mission is to bridge the gap between theory and practice, and to foster a culture of innovation and excellence in homeland security education and research.
