About Heather Coffman
I am an “old soul” that loves classic TV, classic movies, and a spin of the vinyl records. I am driven by the history of material and food culture, baseball history, and why the “things” in our lives are like they are. My proudest research work in college has been about the history of chocolate and Fenway Park.I bring a clear vision and a “can do” attitude to taking on large inventory projects and exhibits creation and installation. I have planned and implemented award winning exhibits. My experience is varied and covers many aspects of museum collection management and preservation. I look at each museums needs and find what would work best for the situation. I have completed full inventories, full database updates, and photographs of each object and rehouse objects to meet each unique need. My love of photography has served me well in this position.I am a team player and have worked with staff to organize strategic goals for the future such as Standard Operating Procedures, Collections Management Policy, and Emergency Plan.I enjoy taking on new challenges and exploring new ways to preserve art and history. I believe both are important and should be preserved for future generations and presented to communities at every opportunity. My variety of positions has given me the skills to communicate well with a variety of people from supervisors, co-workers, and board members to donors and the public. Some of my favorite learning experiences come from the annual conferences that I attend. They are a wonderful place to network with other museum professionals and learn some new tips and tricks. When all this history preservation and presentation does not keep me busy I am spending my time training for half marathons and marathons, quilting, and watching all those classic movies.
