Founder | CreatorThe Hope Bandanna Dec 2021 - Dec 2023how it started.this is my dad and i circa 1979. i am an only child and my parents divorced before i was a year old. in this photo, we are visiting my grandma and grandpa for the weekend. this house and the endless number of tree filled acreage they lived on holds countless heart filled memories. in case you were wondering, yes, real wood burning fireplaces still bring me just as much joy as it did in this photo marked in time. back to how it started. for many, many, many years my dad traveled each week for work BUT never once missed “his weekend”. not once. ever. from the time i can remember i cried when the time came for that goodbye hug and kiss on sunday afternoon | evening drop off back to my mom. he wouldn’t leave without wiping my tears and of course a few extra comforting hugs. once i was a bit more calm he would pull out a navy blue bandanna from his pocket to dry my tears and runny nose. he left it for me to hold until the next time. his next weekend. two weeks in between. that worn in, square piece of material brought me a sense of comfort and security. it smelled like him. it made me feel safe. it gave me something to hold onto that was his until i saw him again. fast forward to today. i moved away from home 17 years ago. home is home and i cry every time i leave. runny nose and all. to this day, i still leave with a bandanna. thanks dad. love you.[let’s just say that i have a bandanna within reach at all times. literally. it is my hope, to share that sense of love and comfort with each of you and your loved ones] more to come…fb: the hope bandanna ig:@thehopebandanna contact: hello@thehopebandanna.com
