Heather Latiolais Eure, Phd, Ibclc, Pmh-C Email and Phone Number
I’ve been working with the perinatal population for over 10 years, first in my volunteer work as a La Leche League Leader, and now as an IBCLC for a large group practice in Texas. I currently support families in their infant feeding journeys in the outpatient setting, during home visits, via telemedicine, on the mother-baby unit, and in the Level 3 and 4 NICUs.My enthusiasm for working with growing families is fueled by my own adventures in parenting. My journey through motherhood has brought me to my knees; it has challenged and humbled me in ways I never anticipated. I know how hard parenting is and feel honored to be a part of the early days home with a new baby, helping folks receive the support they need through this life-altering transition.I have my Perinatal Mental Health Certificate from Postpartum Support International and am a Certified Neurodiverse Lactation Specialist through the Neurodiverse Lactation Education Center. My practice is evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and LGBTQIA+ inclusive. I consistently approach my lactation work from a mental health lens, as all babies deserve happy, healthy parents.A fun fact about me: Once upon a time, I received a PhD in Comparative Literature. The title of my dissertation was Illegible Women: Feminine Fakes, Facades, and Counterfeits in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture. My doctoral work honed my analytical skills to critically view the systemic injustices so many new families face; furthermore, my research informed my conceptualization of gender identity, which helps me help families navigate the identity shift that occurs during early parenthood. Finally, my teaching experience armed me with the excellent counseling skills I need to make families feel heard and help them find the path that works best for them.
