This HL7 FHIR accelerator is the first outside of the US domain and will be more clinically focused than existing accelerators and most FHIR existing modelling.My role is focused on clinical requirements gathering and logical modelling for the national data foundation. These logical models will be transformed into FHIR profiles and incorporated into HL7 AU FHIR core and used to develop the Australian Core Data for Interoperability (AUCDI).

Standardisation of Class 1 Infectious Disease and Maternal Mortality Notification forms divided across multiple phases and associated contracts. The project comes under the auspice of PAHO's IS4H work program; funded by CDC and other international development funds.

As the founding Lead for the openEHR Foundation's Clinical Program I have guided the evolution of ‘the openEHR approach' to creation of clinical content for electronic health records. The approach is a methodology for development, clinical verification, publication & governance of computable, non-proprietary clinical knowledge specifications, known as openEHR archetypes & templates. A key reason for the success of this work has been establishing an integrated collaborative model for active clinical expert engagement - a rare commodity that has not be able to be harnessed by most other technical paradigms.

As consulting and clinical modelling lead at Ocean Health Systems I led the practical development of the openEHR modelling methodology as a lingua franca between the clinicians and engineers, and designed and developed specialised tooling and governance processes to support the methodology. This approach has now been adopted by national programs, international organisations and vendors, and is being further refined as it gathers momentum and adoption. I was also responsible for the profitable Informatics Division within Ocean, providing consulting services, data set development, training and tooling to many of the same national programs and international organisations.I led the development of the Clinical Knowledge Manager (CKM) as an enduring infostructure resource for openEHR archetypes & templates. It manages the global library of openEHR archetypes, templates & terminology value sets that have been verified by clinicians/engineers as fit for use in digital health systems. The clinical knowledge governance process underpinning CKM allows the archetypes to gradually be refined as new clinical use cases are identified, yet still function as a valuable, long-term asset that will outlast any specific technical implementation or messaging trend. CKM has been deployed in a number of national eHealth programs including Australia, Norway, Slovenia, Brazil and UK NHS. Since 2007 I have developed & delivered training programs for openEHR clinical modelling & clinical knowledge governance. Consulting services and training have been provided to eHealth programs, & organisations - including UK NHS, AU's NEHTA, Norway’s Nasjonal IKT, and MoH in Slovenia & Brasil.
