I worked as the Human Resources Intern from May 2011 to August 2011. During this time, I developed a survey for Spartan Stores' wholesale/distribution customers regarding HR services and used the results to develop a comprehensive proposal for an HR services offering to Spartan Stores' customers. I collaborated across departments (HR, business development, account management, finance, diversity & inclusion, sustainability) to create both the survey and develop the proposal, which includes services to be provided, budgets, and marketing the offering. I then presented the proposal to both the HR team and Spartan Stores senior management team (including the CEO) at the end of the internship.Other activities included developing two training workshops, conducting phone screenings for job applicants, observing and conducting initial candidate interviews for positions within Spartan Stores, working with the sustainability committee to plan and market an associate event, and volunteering at the Michigan Special Olympics Summer Games. Creating the HR services offering allowed me to use both my HR management degree and my marketing degree. The proposal was based on a customer needs survey and an understanding of the HR disciplines. Marketing the HR services to both current and potential wholesale/distribution customers required an understanding of business-to-business sales and media campaigns.As a temporary Risk Management Clerk from September 2011 to October 2011, I provided administrative assistance for both worker's compensation and general liability claims, as well as health & safety inspections/audits.
