As I reflect on my more than 25 years of leading people, one of the most powerful lessons I've learned is that when we, as leaders, put our people first, everything else tends to follow. The "everything else" includes winning key performance indicators, the ability to recruit top talent, diverse company cultures that are drenched in trust and compassion, and benches of talent where top performers can be plucked, plugged, and begin performing almost immediately. As a people leader, there is nothing I'm more passionate about than helping others find their purpose then discover their path. Isn't that what we are all searching for? I've both given and received ample feedback throughout my career. I've been a studious mentee and a wise (I hope) mentor. I know what it feels like to be an organization's top performer and I remember the sting of shame from disappointing a leader whom I respected. I've hired and fired (never easy). I've coached and yes, sometimes coddled. Through it all, one word has been my consistent battle cry: authenticity."Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are." - Brene BrownOn the weekends, you’ll find me reading historical non-fiction and exploring our new home, the pacific north West! My husband and I have a 9-year old daughter whom we love to spend time with, doing just about whatever she wants; shopping, playing games, and dance parties!I’m always interested in hearing from colleagues and similar professionals, so feel free to contact me if you’d like to connect.
