Hello! My name is Heather Prest, I'm a certified Environmental Professional in Training (EPt), with expertise in Policy and Legislation as well as Communications and Public Awareness. Recently, I worked as a Planning Intern with Clean Air Partnership, contributing to advancing climate change mitigation/adaptation strategies into municipal planning and decision-making processes. I conducted research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement on various topics related to climate change, such as equity, vulnerability, resilience, and co-benefits. I also supported developing and disseminating knowledge through reports, webinars, and newsletters to share best practices and lessons learned with municipal partners and the public. Before Clean Air Partnership, I worked as a Social Justice Community Organizer with ACORN Hamilton, where I worked to mobilize and empower low-income and marginalized communities to advocate for their rights to affordable housing, public transit, and equitable banking access. I am passionate about ensuring that climate change action is equitable and benefits all equity-deserving and underserved groups. I am committed to ensuring that climate change action also benefits wildlife and improves biodiversity within Canada. I hold a master’s degree in Social Justice and Community Engagement, where I explored the intersections of climate change, environmental justice, and social movements. My graduate degree was built on the foundation of knowledge gained from my bachelor's degree in Society, Culture, and Environment. I am most excited when I can combine climate action with building sustainable, resilient communities that benefit both people and wildlife. I am dedicated to advancing a just and equitable world where everyone can enjoy a healthy and sustainable environment.
