As a Certified Agilist in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), I have the tools and opportunity to be a change agent in organizations looking to adopt or further utilize the principles of Agile. Through my lens as a Certified Scrum Product Owner, I have experience in applying Agile to Big Data Analytics, a subject area new to the Agile principles. Originally designed for software development, Agile is able to provide benefits beyond that single aspect of the business environment. The primary benefits of Agile are well known such as greater visibility of development, faster delivery of a minimally viable product, and greater collaboration; however, I most appreciate the balance of structure and creativity offered by Agile. Specifically mentioned within the Agile Manifesto, this approach values people, collaboration, and the ability to respond to the ever changing business environment over stringently following process, project plans, or comprehensive documentation. Despite my love of defining processes, plans and clear documentation is should not impede the project team from delivering truly innovative work.Given my experience and interest, I participate within the industry as a speaker on: the use of Agile, and Big Data Analytics from a project and product management perspective.At Illumination Works, I consult as a Product Owner and Business analyst primarily in Big Data Analytics and Agile, but also with software development. ILW have been very supportive to me in the development of my career, and also encourage me to speak on my experiences as well as sharing my experience with other consultants at our company through mentoring. Outside of IT, I take a great personal interest in Nutritional Health and the role it plays in both our everyday lives as well as in disease treatment. My deep desire to understand more, has driven me to pursue a Masters in Nutrition, and share what I learn with those around me.
