Provides support for USGS scientific efforts within the science center throughout all aspects of the USGS Science Data Lifecycle. This lifecycle includes planning, acquisition, processing, analyzing, preserving, curating, publishing, sharing, documenting, managing quality, and securing/archiving data in support of the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of the Interior (DOI), and USGS policies and procedures. Constantly working towards the goal of furthering data discoverability and reusability for the Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program (CMHRP) and Center’s published scientific data.Serves as the administrator for the center's ArcGIS Enterprise, PostgreSQL databases, enterprise geodatabases, and the Information Product Data System. Supports the Center through knowledge of data management, publication policies, and Fundamental Science Practices providing training and guidance to staff. Frequently serves in a data management advisory capacity to projects developing systems for the CMHRP helping define system requirements and providing guidance to developers and scientists regarding data needs from both SPCMSC and the Coastal Change Hazards project. Also provides expertise in scientific data standards, knowledge of center’s data holdings and unique requirements, GIS and spatial visualization, usability principles to user interface designs, and development of user instructions and documentation.

Trains data stewards and center scientists on data management procedures and best practices. Acts as task manager for Data Management employees at the U.S. Geological Survey, St. Petersburg. Manages a wide range of data types, such as geophysics, remote sensing (lidar), physical, chemical and geological oceanography, biology, hydrodynamic, morphologic, and coastal change prediction models.Built, maintains and administers center’s ArcGIS enterprise geodatabase with PostgreSQL. Provides technical user support for all aspects of geo-spatial data and software, trains and instructs others in use of GIS applications. Development of ESRI Story Maps and web applications to communicate the program and center’s science topics to the public and external stakeholders.Participates in site design, development, and management of the USGS Coastal Change Hazards Portal using Scrum AGILE development. Assists science staff in posting time-critical, natural hazards forecasting of potential coastal change impacts during land-falling storms. Facilitates publication of an average of 130 peer-reviewed products per year for the science center. Coordinates and trains center and program staff on procedures necessary for publication, metadata formats, policies and best practices including project data management planning and data release workflows. Serves on enhanced funding projects to aid in development and defining user requirements for new tools and data systems, such as a program-wide Imagery Data System. Works with program, regional, and national science staff and outside collaborators to provide expertise in scientific data management planning, publication and preservation of data. Participates in stakeholder engagement for the State of our Nation’s Coast tool development.

Managed Coastal and Marine Geoscience Data System (CMGDS) MySQL database of all SPCMSC data archives and data downloads.Processed navigation data for varied geophysical data using GIS software to produce trackline maps in a variety of open-source GIS formats and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard formats.Processed geophysical data (bathymetry, gravity, magnetics and lidar topography), GIS data and FGDC metadata to be imported into a series of internal and external databases and catalogs for data discovery.
