Constantly working towards the goal of furthering data discoverability and reusability for the Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program (CMHRP) and Center’s published scientific data.Serves as the administrator for the center's ArcGIS Enterprise, PostgreSQL databases, enterprise geodatabases, and the Information Product Data System. Supports the Center through knowledge of data management, publication policies, and Fundamental Science Practices providing training and guidance to staff. Frequently serves in a data management advisory capacity to projects developing systems for the CMHRP helping define system requirements and providing guidance to developers and scientists regarding data needs from both SPCMSC and the Coastal Change Hazards project. Also provides expertise in scientific data standards, knowledge of center’s data holdings and unique requirements, GIS and spatial visualization, usability principles to user interface designs, and development of user instructions and documentation.

Development of ESRI Story Maps and web applications to communicate the program and center’s science topics to the public and external stakeholders.Participates in site design, development, and management of the USGS Coastal Change Hazards Portal using Scrum AGILE development. Assists science staff in posting time-critical, natural hazards forecasting of potential coastal change impacts during land-falling storms. Facilitates publication of an average of 130 peer-reviewed products per year for the science center. Coordinates and trains center and program staff on procedures necessary for publication, metadata formats, policies and best practices including project data management planning and data release workflows. Serves on enhanced funding projects to aid in development and defining user requirements for new tools and data systems, such as a program-wide Imagery Data System. Works with program, regional, and national science staff and outside collaborators to provide expertise in scientific data management planning, publication and preservation of data. Participates in stakeholder engagement for the State of our Nation’s Coast tool development.

Included GeoMapApp and Virtual Ocean 2-D and 3-D earth browsing tools, for data integration, visualization and analysis.Converted geophysical datasets into MGD77T format for standardization and addition into data portal.Collaborated with scientists from other Coastal and Marine Geology centers to QA/QC and process legacy geophysical data into standard formats for publication.Wrote Data Series report publishing legacy bathymetry data and establishing processing steps for USGS scientists to use as a guide for converting geophysical data into MGD77T format for external sharing.Used USGS metadata tools, CNS, TKME, and mp (metadata parser) to process or convert metadata into FDGC format for submission into CMGDS Geonetwork.Communicated information about science, data, and storm-induced coastal change to students from kindergarten through college and adults as part of the USGS annual open house and other outreach programs.
