Prior to founding the MLO law firm, Heather was Associate Chief IP Counsel at Siemens Corporation where she handled complex IP issues and managed patent attorneys and staff in the Siemens' West Coast Office. She obtained broad legal experience including leading patent license negotiations, being a key member of license negotiation teams for major patent cross-licenses, handling third party allegations, handling due diligences for both acquisitions and venture capital investment, drafting various technology and patent related agreements, and overseeing patent portfolios and patent prosecution. Her primary technical areas included telecommunications, semiconductor devices, medical systems and software.

Heather began her legal career at Townsend and Townsend (now Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton) as a member of the Electrical and Electronics Patent Prosecution Group, where she specialized in drafting patent applications and other patent related documents. She also participated in patent license negotiations and provided freedom-to-operate letters.
