In my role as Learning Specialist at The Catherine Cook School for the past ten years, I established a Student Support Services program to create the conditions for which all learners can take risks, feel safe to make mistakes through trial and error and become independent, confident students. I love to make connections between people and resources, thus mobilizing others to do the same. Investigating problems, identifying barriers to learning and applying the the strategies and methods to intervene and create opportunity for growth. I'm committed to staying informed about best practice through professional development. I've been trained in multi-sensory strategies, like Orton-Gillingham, the Wilson method and Handwriting Without Tears. I create an inviting and safe learning environment that focuses on student strengths. Having empathy and being able to see the world through the eyes of my students grows my compassion and understanding for their journey. Helping students achieve success and independence, building positive relationships and collaborating with colleagues with the belief that change is possible are things sI value.
