I spent 2 years as Leader of Logistics, 5 years as the Business Continuity and Emergency Manager at Tacoma Public Utilities. I have 17 years of Emergency Management, Homeland Security, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High Yield Explosives experience in training, response, recovery, mitigation, decontamination, passive and active defense for base/installation and individual warfighters. I spent over six years in the United States Air Force as an Emergency Management Specialist and CBRNE specialist. During the time, I trained over 9000 personnel in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) training and 2000 personnel in Self Aid Buddy Care (SABC), deployed over 5000 short tons of equipment in support of numerous exercises such as New Horizons and JTF Bravo, deployed over 1200 personnel in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom and Joint Service Exercises. I also managed 41 different ancillary/deployment training programs such as Force Protection and Anti-terrorism programs. I responded to 5 suspected biological agent attacks, including suspected Ricin and Anthrax; 3 major accidents, HAZMAT, plane crashes, and large explosive ordnance incidents; and supported 2 large scale natural disasters, Tsunami of Sri Lanka and recovery operations for Katrina. I also managed the Installation Control Center, Emergency Operations Center, and trained base personnel on the Air Force Emergency Management System. I am also a lifelong learner dedicated to teaching others about homeland security and emergency management. I am currently the Lead Faculty for an Undergraduate Homeland Security program, and I am the Interim Program Director for the undergraduate and graduate Criminal Justice programs at Columbia Southern University.
